Bret Witke looks at the world of design as an opportunity to create timeless, sophisticated spaces while encouraging a lifestyle of calm elegance. With the architecture as canvas he views every space as a living, breathing entity and paints a portrait to suit each individual interior.
With lush textures, tones and hand-picked, one of a kind pieces he finds on his extensive travels, Bret’s celebrated interiors always tell a story of classic luxury and a life well-lived.
Bret’s multi-faceted career in design began with owning, operating and designing various nightclubs and restaurants in the wild west of the 1980’s and 90’s in Los Angeles. Vanity Fair, VOGUE, GQ, W Magazine, Harper’s Bazaar and many other must-read publications heralded Bret’s nightspots as the hippest places to be. Chic, irreverent and fueled by the energy of the artistic jet set, Bret’s clientele included Madonna, Herb Ritts and Matthew Rolston among others.
Bret soon followed his success as a restaurateur and club owner with a first-of-its-kind, trend-setting interior design and lifestyle shop, ‘Russell Simpson’, a location that was an invaluable and cherished source for top international designers such as Kelly Wearstler, Paul Fortune, Waldo Fernandez, Michael Smith and many more.
Naturally, his diverse talent, impeccable eye and ever-growing client list led him to establish his own interior design company, Witke Design Group. Founded in 2004 and located on Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles’ famed design district, its broad expanse of commercial and residential projects have ranged from Richard Neutra, Frank Lloyd Wright to Case Study Houses. The Witke Design Group has been featured in many publications from Vanity Fair, House and Garden and The Los Angeles Times to several prestigious design books.
Viewed as a designer’s designer in the world of interiors and “one the best kept secrets in Los Angeles” Bret not only runs Witke Design Group but has consulted on numerous commercial, hospitality and residential projects with famed architects, top designers and titans of the fashion industry, always maintaining his “less is more” approach and staying under the radar.
Whether solely interior design or ground up construction the Witke Design Group has built its reputation on a continued commitment to the highest quality and an unsurpassed eye for detail.
